Bayard Inc. President of the Board, Jean-Marie Montel, is appointed consultant of the Vatican Dicastery for Communication.

Pope Francis has appointed Jean-Marie Montel, President of the Board of Bayard, Inc. and Deputy Director General of the Bayard Group as consultant of the Dicastery for Communication.

A graduate of the Institute of Political Studies in Grenoble and the French Press Institute, Jean-Marie Montel has held many responsibilities in the ecclesial, media and associative fields. In particular, he was Delegate for Communication for the Scouts of France between 1995 and 2001; General Delegate of the Civisme et Démocratie Association from 2001 to 2005; President and General Manager of Malesherbes Publications (La Vie-Le Monde Group) from 2006 to 2012; and General Manager of Milan Presse (Bayard Group) from 2012 to 2013.

Since January 2018, as President of the Federation of Catholic Media in France and in collaboration with the Vatican Dicastery for Communication, Jean-Marie has organized the International Days of St. Francis de Sales. Spanning the nations, with professionals of nearly 30 nationalities, the Saint Francis de Sales Days allow for unique exchanges and meetings between journalists in the Catholic media, editors and Church communication officers, under the eyes of Saint Francis de Sales, patron saint of journalists. The next edition of the event will be held in Lourdes from 22 to 24 January 2020.

Jean-Marie Montel is also President of Via Aeterna ( “the eternal path”), a classic music festival held in Mont Saint-Michel.

He joined the Bayard Group in 2013, where he was appointed Deputy General Manager and President of the Board of Bayard, Inc., in July 2017.
