Dr. Marilyn Kravatz-Toolan Appointed Archdiocesan Faith Formation Lifelong Advisory Council
WORCESTER, MA – Pflaum Publishing Group, a division of Bayard, Inc., is proud to share the news about the appointment of Dr. Marylin T. Kravatz-Toolan, Ph.D., to the Archdiocesan Lifelong Faith Formation Advisory Council for the Archdiocese of Newark, NJ. Dr. Kravatz-Toolan currently serves as an online mentor and contributor for Pflaum Publishing Group, where she provides essential guidance to grandparents, parents, and catechists. Through Pflaum’s faith formation program, Pflaum Gospel Weeklies, Dr. Kravatz-Toolan helps families and faith educators navigate the challenges of presenting Catholic values and fostering spiritual growth in young people.
This appointment to the Archdiocesan council, which went into effect on October 1, 2024, is for a five-year term. In her new role, Dr. Kravatz-Toolan will contribute her extensive experience and dedication to the Catechetical Ministry, collaborating with other council members to shape and recommend policies that support lifelong faith formation in the Archdiocese.
Dr. Kravatz-Toolan brings decades of leadership in religious education and catechesis, having served as the Executive Director of the Online Graduate Programs in Religious Education at Felician University in Lodi, NJ, where she also held a position as Associate Professor. Her academic background is rooted in deep theological study, including a B.A. in Humanities with a concentration in Religious Studies and Philosophy from Dominican College (now Dominican University), an M.A. in Religious Studies from St. Joseph’s Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Religious Education from Fordham University.
As a highly regarded educator, author, and speaker, Dr. Kravatz-Toolan has played an integral role in both diocesan and parish-level faith formation, having previously served in the Archdiocese of New York and the Diocese of Charlotte. In addition to her professional work, she is a devoted mother of five and grandmother to eleven grandchildren, drawing from her personal and professional experiences to offer valuable insights to the council.

The Archdiocesan Lifelong Faith Formation Advisory Council works closely with the Vicar for Education and the Director of the Office for Lifelong Faith Formation to develop and implement initiatives that foster a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith across all ages, helping both children and adults grow in their spiritual journeys.
